Pair from Miami arrested with 960 grams of marijuana and other drugs after high-speed chase stretching from Lake City to High Springs on I-75

Staff report
HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – Dimy Paraison, 51, and Keeshanda Teresa Johnson, 43, both of Miami, were arrested early yesterday morning after a high-speed chase that stretched along I-75 from Lake City to High Springs.
At about 5:17 a.m. on February 4, a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper saw an SUV that slowed down as it approached him, and as it passed, he saw that it had a paper temporary tag. The trooper began following the vehicle, which slowed down to 55 mph in a 70 mph zone. The trooper caught up to the SUV and noticed that there was a second paper temporary tag under the top one; he checked the number on the top tag and was advised that it was not a valid tag.
The trooper reported that the SUV drifted into the middle lane and then back into the right lane, so he activated his lights and siren and conducted a traffic stop. The SUV pulled over at about the 424 mile marker, and as he walked by the tag, the trooper noted that it had expired on January 30.
The trooper reported that he spoked with Paraison, the driver, and Johnson, the passenger; he asked Paraison for his driver’s license and asked where they were coming from. He said neither answered him, and Johnson opened a bottle of water and started drinking. Paraison held out his license, and the trooper reported that as he reached across Johnson to get the license, he smelled raw marijuana inside the SUV.
Paraison allegedly pulled his hand back without giving the trooper his license, put the car in Drive, fled northbound on I-75 at high speed, and exited at U.S. Highway 90, where he ran a red light and made a left turn. As the SUV turned toward the southbound ramp onto I-75, the trooper attempted a PIT maneuver, which caused the SUV to rotate into the median before backing across U.S. Hwy 90. The SUV reportedly came to a stop, and the trooper got out of his patrol car with his firearm drawn and ordered the occupants out of the SUV.
The occupants allegedly drove away, made a U-turn, and entered I-75 on the southbound ramp. The trooper attempted a second PIT maneuver but did not complete it because of the presence of other vehicles on the ramp.
The trooper conducted another PIT maneuver while the vehicles were traveling southbound on I-75, causing the SUV to rotate into the center median and hit the patrol car. However, Paraison allegedly drove away and continued southbound at speeds of over 100 mph, weaving across the lanes.
As they approached the 406 mile marker, the trooper reportedly maneuvered his patrol vehicle in front of the SUV to slow it down, allowing another trooper to conduct a PIT maneuver; this time, the SUV went into the ditch on the west shoulder. Paraison allegedly tried to get back onto the interstate and drive northbound in the southbound lanes, but the trooper conducted another PIT maneuver that sent the SUV into the edge of the tree line.
The trooper drew his firearm and ordered the occupants to get out of the SUV. Paraison allegedly tried to open the driver’s side door to flee on foot, but the door was stuck.
With the assistance of the second trooper, Paraison and Johnson were detained and were medically cleared before being transported to the jail.
A search of the vehicle reportedly produced 960 grams of marijuana. Another package reportedly contained cylinder-type bundles that were about 3-4 inches long and 2 inches in diameter and contained about 169 grams of K-2, a synthetic cannabinoid, and tongue strips. The trooper noted that the cylinders were similar to those used to introduce contraband into detention facilities by concealing them in the genital area.
Another package reportedly contained more tongue strips, which tested positive for PCP. The trooper noted, “These type of illegal tongue strips are extremely popular in the prison/jail systems.”
The search also reportedly produced a box of Buprenorphine and Naloxone sublingual film with no prescription label, a digital scale, a box containing 305 cigarettes, and 10 cartons of cigarettes.
Post Miranda, Johnson reportedly claimed ownership of everything in the car, including the illegal narcotics.
The trooper reported that the temporary tag on the SUV belonged to a different vehicle and that Paraison’s driver’s license had been suspended since 2022.
Johnson has been charged with nine felonies and one misdemeanor: possession of more than 10 grams of a controlled substance, possession of a Schedule I substance with intent to sell, attempting to smuggle contraband into a prison, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, four counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug equipment with intent to manufacture, and resisting an officer without violence.
Johnson has four felony convictions (none violent) and three misdemeanor convictions (one violent). Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $470,000.
Paraison has been charged with 10 felonies and three misdemeanors; on top of Johnson’s charges, he was also charged with fleeing with lights and sirens active, driving without a valid license with a previous conviction, and having a tag that is not assigned to his vehicle. He is a Career Offender who has 21 felony convictions (seven violent) and seven misdemeanor convictions (none violent) and has served six state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2019. Judge Rawls set bail at $535,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
10 felonies and this judge still set a bond? Crazy.. If Buck were on the bench these people would have no bond.
That dude should get used to those cylindrical objects.
That girl, may already be.
Apparently they didn’t get the memo that what they were doing was illegal.
This guy is a genius.
Apparently the Mexican cartels stopped using illegal alien mules, they’re back to native mules….and not very smart, either. Send them to Gitmo anyway… quote “He is a Career Offender who has 21 felony convictions (seven violent) and seven misdemeanor convictions (none violent) and has served six state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2019.” And send his past public lawyers to Haiti.
ACLUSPLCDNC 💩👿👹🤡👺
Regardless, Dimy survived the first four attempted PIT maneuvers. I give him credit for being a better driver than half the local bubbas in F150s.
The cop “asked where they were coming from.” You can’t do that. Trump has not turned you into the KGB yet. This guy just got a free ACLU lawyer. Flame away ACLU haters.
From reading similar articles over the years, they always ask each person where they’re coming from. When they give widely different answers, that usually leads to other things.
I’m pretty sure they can ask you anything they like. How or if you answer is on you.
Pathetic attempt to make this about Trump, by the way.
Maybe you need to get up in the times. Cops have been asking people were they are traveling to forever. There is no violation of rights. Its called conversation. When drugs mules can’t get their stories right well they kinda set their own fate. PIT maneuvers need to change. When you knowing run from police put into a tree, underpass, or light pole. Didnt work out so well in Waldo a while back for the suspects.
From our friends at the ACLU:
“I’ve been stopped by the police in public
Your rights
You have the right to remain silent. For example, you do not have to answer any questions about where you are going, where you are traveling from, what you are doing, or where you live. If you wish to exercise your right to remain silent, say so out loud. (In some states, you may be required to provide your name if asked to identify yourself, and an officer may arrest you for refusing to do so.)”
and from google
“You have zero obligation to answer that question, or ANY question. There is NO law that compels you to answer anything, no matter what they threaten you with. When asked where I’m going, I point forward. When asked where I’m coming from, I’ll ask “where did you see me coming from?” These questions by cops have one goal, they’re trying to use your words to ‘trap’ you. They’ll start to ask why you were wherever, ask why you’re going to wherever. Then they’ll ask what’s your purpose, who are you going to see. You’ll start giving answers, then they’ll say that makes no sense, you’re lying about something. Then they’ll say you need to exit the car so they can search just to make sure everything is good. They’ll use your words to invent probable cause to search, or make you believe they have probable cause to search. It’s a word game, a mind game. It’s designed to get you to voluntarily give up your Constitutional rights. There is no such thing as ‘innocent questions’ with cops. It is 100% designed to get into your car and get YOU to give up your rights voluntarily. They are experts in this game, they do this all day, everyday. Never, and I mean NEVER, engage in conversation with them. Ask for your ticket and shut up. If they say they have all day to wait, they’re lying. Tell them you have all day, too. Ask for the ticket, but NEVER answer questions. It’s a trap.”
It ain’t polite conversation. It is always “you are guilty of a crime until proven innocent” with cops. Too few citizens realize this.
SOUDS LIKE WE NEED PIT MANUVER TRAINING!
DALE EARNHARDT HIS ASS!
What a disgusting pair. They gave no thought to all the innocent lives that they endangered.
They look demonic!
Great catch! this is why you pull people over for expired tags among other minor traffic infractions. Hopefully they will be locked up for a good long time.
Oh my! How some folks just simply forget….
Most Florida law enforcement agencies on the I75 and I10 corridors have been on a collaborative mission with FHP troopers for some time now. It’s called “Traffic Interdiction”, and it’s not about speeding tickets.
Johnny, this ain’t new. Cops been making DWB stops since Ford invented the Model T.
