Staff report
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Crews responded this evening to a barn fire north of Cross Creek; all the animals were rescued, and there were no injuries.
At about 9:37 p.m. on December 28, crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue, Cross Creek, and Windsor Fire Departments were dispatched to reports of a vehicle fire that spread to a large barn. Crews found that a vehicle parked inside a large barn had caught fire and spread to the structure.
Crews quickly established a water supply from a tanker and deployed two hose lines to extinguish the fire and prevent spread to nearby brush and an adjacent structure. The owner was able to safely remove all animals in the barn before the fire crews arrived, and no injuries were reported.
The County Fire Marshal was consulted on the cause of the fire, and no further investigation was conducted.
