WALDO, Fla. – At 6:54 a.m. this morning, Alachua County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a commercial vehicle fire on US 301 near CR 225, north of Waldo. Upon arrival, crews reported a car hauler carrying nine vehicles on fire, with four of the vehicles on the trailer fully involved as well.
Assistance was requested from Melrose Fire Department and Windsor Fire Department, who provided water tanker support and manpower. The fire was brought under control quickly, but traffic southbound was diverted due to fire operations for about 1.5 hours. Crews were able to contain the fire to the trailer and four of the nine vehicles on the trailer.
was the driver ok?
The press release did not mention anyone being transported to the hospital, and I did not receive a traffic homicide investigation from FHP. That probably means the driver was all right, but the driver was not mentioned at all in the press release.
That’s quite a fire. I wonder if those are EVs.
