GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Alachua County School Board has scheduled a special meeting to ratify agreements with the Alachua County Education Association for Education Support Professionals and Teachers.
The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 19, in the Alachua County Public Schools District Office Board Room, 620 East University Ave., Gainesville.

Unions for government paid employees should be illegal. They are a complete racket.
If you teacher union members have grievances you’re able to collectively back and vote for new politicians that suit your collective agenda. Otherwise, and in this instance, public/government unions only ultimately shakedown the tax payers for more and more money and less and less services…all while you continue to collectively back the same politicians that put you in this predicament.
As someone who gladly paid my public union dues for over 17 years during my previous career I must say, although embarrassingly, that I have never considered that point of view until I just read your comment. In hindsight I was obviously blind to the political agendas but recent events have pushed me to reconsider my previous thoughts.
Gumment worker unions should be abolished. We can use A.I. to determine fair pay based on individual worker job performance.
