St. Cloud motorcyclist hit and killed in I-75

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A St. Cloud man was killed overnight on I-75 when his motorcycle was hit by a sedan driven by a 42-year-old Gainesville woman.

At about 12:22 a.m., the sedan was traveling northbound on I-75 near the 387 mile marker when it hit the motorcycle, which was also traveling north ahead of the sedan. The motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway, and the motorcycle was trapped under the sedan, which continued forward for about 1500 feet. A semi truck driven by a Georgia man struck debris from the crash. The drivers of the sedan and semi were not injured. The motorcyclist was killed; his age was not provided in the Florida Highway Patrol report.

  • The single tail light on a motorcycle is often hard to see at night, especially late at night when many drivers are tired. I hope he was wearing light clothing and a reflective vest. Helmet too.

      • Yes he is. From this report though, we don’t know who’s fault it was. It is just as likely he was at fault as the driver of the car. You can’t make a reasonable decision based on this information.
