Superintendent Simon’s reaction to eliminating the Florida Standards Assessment tests

Press release from Alachua County Public Schools
Alachua County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Carlee Simon has released the following statement regarding the Governor’s announcement on the elimination of FSA testing after 2022:
“This would be welcome news for educators, students, and families in Florida. Our district already conducts progress monitoring during the school year. But an enormous amount of time and effort also goes into preparing for and administering the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) near the end of each year. We agree with Governor DeSantis that the time and effort could be better spent on instruction.
“We look forward to learning more about the details of this proposal and will monitor its progress through the legislative process. We certainly support any effort to promote the use of more effective assessment tools in Florida’s schools.”
