UF Health hosts commemorative signing event for UF Health Urgent Care Center

Press release from UF Health
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – UF Health officials, local government officials, and community leaders came together Thursday to celebrate the new UF Health Urgent Care Center – Eastside. The facility is anticipated to open in East Gainesville in mid-2024.
Attendees added their signatures to an art canvas that will be digitized and engraved on an aluminum plaque. The plaque will display in the lobby of the facility.
The 10,000-square-foot center will feature eight examination rooms, two procedure rooms, an X-ray area, and a community room. It will also be open seven days a week, with hours extending into the evening.
“People can receive care without having to take time off from their jobs,” said David Nelson, senior vice president for health affairs at UF and president of UF Health. “In addition to the health services offered, we anticipate the center will serve as a catalyst for additional development and growth. This is truly an exciting time for us all.”
In addition to Nelson, speakers included the Rev. Deb Hepburn, UF Health Shands chaplain; Lakesha Butler, Pharm.D., UF Health chief culture officer; Ken Cornell, Alachua County Commission; Harvey Ward, City of Gainesville Mayor; Traci d’Auguste, UF Health Shands COO; and Marvin Dewar, M.D., UF Health Physicians chief medical officer.

Can someone please explain what a community room is
I suggest a name for the new urgent care center. How’s “The Knife & Gun Club” sound?
What do politicians all act like it is their money being spent on projects. As they are kings and queens giving to the peasants. I wish the first people thanked would always be the citizens whose heavy taxes make things possible. Anyway seems like the tax payers on this side of town needed this.
Don’t say new UF Health Urgent Care Center.
Say the new clinic ARPA built that became another UF Health windfall.
Honestly UF Health barely breaks even on Medicaid patients and that’s what the majority of patients at this new center will be.
Besides the political pressure for a center on the East side, this will also relieve some of the pressure on the main UF Health ER on campus.
A long time coming, History is Being Made
