Victim “did not know how to stop it”: Local doctor charged with asking high school girl for sexual photos

NEWBERRY, Fla. – Chintan Vimalkumar Shah, 40, a former Associate Clinical Professor at UF and kidney specialist at UF Health Shands, is facing new charges after officials identified a girl he allegedly chatted with as a minor; in an interview, the victim reportedly confirmed that he asked her for sexual photos and threatened to find her parents and tell them if she did not continue complying with his requests.

Shah was originally arrested on July 8 after Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies followed up on a CyberTip about a Kik account that shared a video of a nude pre-pubescent female, and six additional charges were filed following a search of his phone. On July 18, an additional 34 counts were filed after investigators reportedly found photos on his phone that appeared to use AI to remove the clothes from real photos of young girls in bikinis, along with at least one adult female who was known to him.

The original arrest report included information about the alleged “grooming” of a female who is now 19 years old but was a minor when they first started communicating. The chats appeared to be a form of “age play” in which the female pretended to be 10 years old; Shah and the victim also reportedly discussed a video that Shah allegedly sent her, showing an adult male engaging in sexual activities with a female dressed as a child. In one chat, Shah and the female allegedly role-played the sexual battery of a 10-year-old child.

In chat transcripts included in the latest sworn complaint, the victim reportedly confirmed to Shah that she was 16 when they first started communicating, and Shah wrote, “You were so little then and so little for daddy still but you have learned so much.”

In chats with another Kik user about their “littles” (underage victims), Shah reportedly discussed persuading his “little” to “start using objects other than fingers” and said she “started off with a toothbrush… She’s just up to a pen and toothbrush so far.” Shah later reportedly wrote, “She was in school when we started… She was very shy and would hardly play when we started… But very obedient… Yes, [she] likes to be owned.” Shah reportedly advised the other account (apparently another male talking about his “little”) to “make her f*** herself with a few pens at a time. See the count, how many she can take at a time.”

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Detective identified the female victim, who lives in another state, and asked a local law enforcement officer to interview her. That officer reported that the phone number she provided was the same one provided to Shah’s account in the chats. The victim initially said she didn’t know why she would be called in for an interview, but she eventually said she remembered what the detective was talking about, and she said she downloaded Kik when she was 15 or 16 years old — she said she was positive she was a freshman in high school at the time — so she could talk to new people. She said she was just “a curious teen” at the time.

The victim said she received a message from Shah’s account, asking her for photos. She initially refused, but she said he kept talking to her. She said he told her he was a doctor in Florida, he was rich, and he had a convertible. She said he was nice at first and warned her about people asking her for inappropriate photos. However, he later asked her for photos, and she sent them; when he asked her for topless photos, she refused, but she eventually gave in and sent topless photos to him. She said he sent a $25 Amazon gift card to her email during this period, and she felt like he was “bribing” her.

The victim said Shah sent her clothed and nude photos of himself, but the nude photos only showed genitals, so she did not know whether they were photos of Shah because “sometimes the photos did not match up.” She said she never asked for those photos; he just sent them to her. She said he also sent a picture of his convertible.

The victim said the conversations started out “normal” but turned sexual, Shah’s account was interested in “daddy/daughter” role play, and he liked younger girls. She said she went along with it at first because she didn’t know any better, and sometimes she would block his account, but he would create new accounts and contact her again.

The victim said Shah’s account asked her to do specific sexual things, but she didn’t remember exactly what he asked for. When asked whether he had threatened or rewarded her, she mentioned the gift card again and said he threatened to find her parents on social media and tell them what she was doing online if she didn’t keep sending him “pictures and stuff.”

The victim said Shah tried to get her to involve her younger sister in their chats, but she refused.

The ASO detective also interviewed the victim, and she reportedly confirmed that she was underage at all times when she chatted with Shah; she again said she didn’t remember anything specific about the photos Shah requested, but when asked whether he asked her to take photos while engaging in sexual acts, she reportedly said, “Umm… probably, yeah,” but she did not remember whether she sent any.

The victim reportedly confirmed that she engaged in role-playing conversations with Shah about forcing sexual acts on her younger sister; when the detective asked how it got to that point, she said she did not know how to stop it because he threatened her and she did not want to get in trouble.

The victim reportedly said that all of the threats and blackmail occurred while she was a minor, and she only sent photos to Shah when she was a minor. She also confirmed that Shah knew she was a minor when he allegedly requested and received the photos.

The victim reportedly confirmed that Shah’s booking photo “looks like the picture he sent me.”

This new case adds charges of using a computer to seduce, solicit, or lure a child; directing a sexual performance by a child; transmitting material harmful to minors; engaging in harmful or explicit communication with a minor; and unlawful use of a two-way communications device.

Shah is now facing charges in four cases, and he is being held without bond.
