Video: GPD investigating shooting of three people at TB McPherson Easter celebration

Press release from Gainesville Police Department

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On Sunday, April 20, 2025, at approximately 8:15 p.m., as attendees were leaving the Easter event at TB McPherson Park, an unidentified Black male wearing red shorts and a gray hoodie opened fire into the crowd, striking three individuals.

Gainesville Police Department officers on scene immediately rendered aid to the victims until Gainesville Fire Rescue and Alachua County Fire Rescue arrived. All three victims were transported to Shands at the University of Florida. One individual sustained life-threatening injuries, while the other two suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Additional officers responded to assist with traffic and crowd management during the aftermath of the incident.

The investigation is continuing, and a video of the suspect is shown below:

  • PLEASE get this man. Nobody should have to go through this because of ignorant SOBs. I hate this. I hate it so much

  • I saw a video on FB of people attending. Women twerking, flipping birds in front of the camera smiling in celebration. Young men displaying a handful of money as if they are rich while the most foul lyrics in a song playing in the background. It made me sick.
This is a day for celebrating Jesus’ resurrection. I SMH and remind myself I am just passing through.

  • NOT what the celebration of Easter is about at all. Unacceptable. People involved should be ashamed.

  • I love these “Peaceful Sunday” gatherings where they hire private security guards who do not have arrest powers and look the other way at these open air drug sales markets. Makes the gatherings soooo peaceful.

Till someone pulls a piece like yesterday.

  • TBM used to be every Sunday evening until just this kind of thing started happening a lot and the gatherings got cancelled. The above video looks like the scene from Boyz n Da Hood when dude lights off his MAC 11.

  • More of the same. Everybody thinks they are a gangsta. Somebody like a lawful 2A citizen should have put the over-achiever lights out.

    • How would that work Bear? You know cops are at the range regularly.

“Police shooting accuracy in officer-involved shootings is generally not very high, with studies suggesting hit rates ranging from about 15% to 54%. This means that a significant number of shots fired by police officers during these encounters miss the intended target. “

  • So the guy at FSU was a gangsta too? Help me out. Were the FSU coeds twerking cause that might explain it, but how does his being a 2020 election denying white supremacist fit in?

    • I’ll help you out. One group’s violent defense of self-entitlement does not cancel out another group’s violent defense of self-entitlement. This is neither a zero-sum game, nor a game at all.

    • Whoo Hoo!

It’s the Alachua County Democratic Defender of Everything AC or GNV! Now we know everything about this tragedy and of course, how it relates to an earlier tragedy! The comments are always politically charged!

You want to associate this tragedy with Trump? Where is your proof, and of course, the pedigree supporting your accusation? This looks more like another political payoff of the current DNC leadership and their effort to discredit their GOP enemies (used to be called opponents, but no longer for Hakim, Chucky, and of course the ever idiotic Maxine!)

      Who mentioned “Gangsta?” You did!

You’re a “cut and paste” keyboard warrior (washed up local political activist/politician) who is stuck on repeat!

      • I mocked the politicalization of the TB M incident by others here which you somehow missed.

My comments on the FSU shooter are facts.

        • @ Video don’t lie: you couldn’t have described Jazzman any better! He reminds me of that “Keyboard Warrior” action figure circulating on FB lately 😆

  • I saw the flyer for this event, advertised as an egg hunt. In the videos I saw 0 kids. But like the above comment I saw a bunch of twerking, money flashing and “rap” music. After the shooting they flooded parking lots of east side liquor stores.

Now the real egg hunt begins to find this guy.

    • Maybe this crew is also responsible for the Taco Bell/Checkers debacle that happened later

  • Couple of rotten eggs ruin what is supposed to be a celebration.

  • My dudes, please be aware that though marketed as an Easter event this was 1,000% a 4/20 event and the violence thereafter was completely attributable to that holiday.

  • The video looks like the street in front of our house after renters of the AirBnB on the opposite side invite a few close friends over for afternoon tea.

  • Did the organizers have to get a permit for this 420 event? They should be denied all future permits for large gatherings…

    • I doubt they pulled a permit, I think they pretty much stopped permits for Mcpherson park due to previous gatherings with violence there.

      • Cynthia curry needs to adress this permit thing and provide answers…someone could have been killed.

      • There were never any violence at Peaceful Sundays when Johnnie Brown was the organizer. Citizens complained about the size of the crowd and the city shut the event down. The city grants a permit to re-open TB in Easter Sunday and God lifts his hands, three people were shot. None of this happened at Peaceful Sundays.

  • Its funny because nobody at this event is going to heaven.
    in jesus name,
    go to hell

  • Seems some people just can’t get together without violence. At least they were only shooting at each other, not honest citizens.

  • How many Dem churches are within a mile of that park?
    ACLUSPLCDNC 🤡👿👺👹💩

  • I PRAY FOR OUR COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE…IT
‘S GOOD THAT WE CAN COME TOGETHER BUT I PRAY THAT WE LEARN TO SETTLE OUR DISPUTES WITHOUT VIOLENCE AS AN EXAMPLE FOR OUR YOUTH.
