Woman arrested for burglarizing occupied home in Micanopy

MICANOPY, Fla. – Estephania Andrea Lucado, 38, of Gainesville, was arrested yesterday for allegedly burglarizing an occupied home in Micanopy and stealing items.

At about 5:31 p.m. on August 7, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a home on SE CR 234, where the victim said Lucado had been found stealing items inside a screened porch of the home. The victim also said Lucado had previously stolen from the residence.

A deputy reportedly saw Lucado leaving the victim’s property, holding food items that were still cold from being refrigerated. Lucado reportedly tried to give the stolen items to the deputy and said she had done nothing wrong because she had not taken the items off the property.

Lucado allegedly refused to identify herself and refused to answer questions.

Lucado, whose address is listed as Gainesville, has been charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, theft, and resisting an officer without violence. She has no local criminal history, and Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $54,000.
