Woman on pre-trial release arrested for allegedly stealing vehicle from woman who gave her a ride

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Xiomara Ternisha Mosely, 46, was arrested yesterday after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a woman who gave her a ride; Mosely has been on pre-trial release since her arrest last September for crack cocaine possession.

The victim told a responding Gainesville Police Department officer that at about 9:30 a.m. on February 15, she was giving Mosely a ride when she pulled over to go to the bathroom. Mosely allegedly found a second set of keys inside the vehicle and drove away while the victim was in the bathroom.

The vehicle was reportedly located several days later, with Mosely driving. A passenger who was in the vehicle when it was located reportedly told an officer that Mosely told him her mother had purchased the vehicle. He said Mosely had been driving the vehicle for several days.

Mosely reportedly said the victim had let her drive the vehicle for the weekend; she also reportedly said she had given the victim money to rent the vehicle.

Mosely has two felony convictions (one violent) and two misdemeanor convictions (one violent). She was arrested in 2023 for finding keys that had been hidden by a family member and then stealing that person’s vehicle, but the charge was later dropped. She is on pre-trial release after being released on her own recognizance on a previous charge of possession of crack cocaine; according to her probation officer, she had complied with her release conditions through February 11 and was expected to be compliant if she were sentenced to probation. Judge Kristine Van Vorst set bail at $20,000.
