13-year-old with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma gets Make-A-Wish experience with the Florida Gators
Press release from Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida is thrilled to announce the recent granting of a wish for Levi, a 13-year-old who experienced a remarkable weekend with the Florida Gators. Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Levi’s wish centered around his love for the Gators. Thanks to the generous support of the University of Florida Athletic Department and the Gainesville community, Levi and his family were given an unforgettable experience.
Levi’s wish included exclusive access to the Florida Gators’ athletic facilities, where he toured the basketball and football facilities, assisted with setting up the football locker room, and enjoyed a private dinner at Spurrier’s. During dinner, Coach Steve Spurrier made a surprise appearance to greet Levi, making the evening even more special. On Saturday, he experienced the GatorWalk tradition, enjoyed pregame warmups, and watched the game from the Champions Club. Levi also had the chance to take in a halftime performance by the Tom Petty Experience. Additionally, Levi received a special merch bundle from Fanatics, which included a Florida Gators basketball jersey that was signed by the team.
“Levi’s experience is a great example of how Make-A-Wish is able to bring local families closer to the teams and moments that inspire them,” said Laurie Armendariz, Vice President of Mission Delivery at Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida. “Over the past five years, Make-A-Wish has granted over 100 wishes in the Gainesville area, including unforgettable experiences like a wish to meet and swim with Katie Ledecky and a special wish with the University of Florida Gymnastics team. We’re excited to continue growing in Gainesville and bring even more joy to children battling critical illnesses in this community.”
These impactful wishes are made possible through the support of generous donors, community partners, and volunteers who believe in the power of a wish.
