GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Lace up your running shoes and raise a glass — or four! The 1st Annual Gainesville Beer Mile is charging into Cypress & Grove Brewing Company on Saturday, January 31, at 3:00 p.m. This refreshingly fun winter event blends fitness, craft beer, and community spirit in one unforgettable afternoon.

Whether you’re a seasoned Beer Mile competitor or just in it for laughs and local brews, this event has something for everyone. Celebrate the last day of Dry January with an activity that’s part athletic challenge and part community party — with plenty of cheers along the way.

What’s a Beer Mile?
In a Beer Mile event, participants drink a beer before each lap and run four laps to complete one mile — a delightfully chaotic combo of chugging and jogging that’s as entertaining to watch as it is to run. For those who prefer not to drink alcohol, there’s a non-alcoholic beer mile option as well.

Entry includes the chance to run (or walk!) a one–mile course with four beers (or NA beers) — one before each lap — in true Beer Mile style. Participants of all ability levels are welcome, and spectators are encouraged to come cheer, laugh, and capture the fun.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Gainesville Area Rowing Club, helping fund equipment, resources, and opportunities for young athletes training on Newnan’s Lake. Your participation supports a competitive, community-focused nonprofit shaping the next generation of rowers.
