2020 Competition for SEC Sports of Cross Country, Soccer & Volleyball Start After August 31

On Tuesday, Southeastern Conference Commissioner Greg Sankey announced the start of fall 2020 competition for the sports of cross country, soccer, and volleyball is delayed through August 31. This decision provides additional time for safe return of competition preparations.

Games, meets, or matches, including pre-season events, cannot happen until after August 31.

For the Gator athletic program, the first event on the fall calendar before today’s SEC announcement was a home exhibition soccer match versus Mercer on Aug. 10. Student-athletes from these sports are currently on campus, and they will continue preparations for the 2020 season.

Start Dates After Aug. 31:
Sept. 4 SOC Florida State at Florida
Sept. 4 VB TBA
Sept. 11 XC at North Florida Invitational
