352Creates to host free community events celebrating creativity and arts for health and wellbeing

Press release from 352Creates

352Creates will showcase the very best of Gainesville during a week-long, free Festival of Creativity, March 21-27, 2022. The Gainesville community can participate in online and in-person workshops, art activities, a large-scale mural painting project, and enjoy an art & craft market and live music at various places around town.

352Creates promotes the idea that creativity benefits us, and these events celebrate and highlight the artists, makers, and musicians in Gainesville. Businesses, organizations, and individuals were invited to lead activities and/or any group activity that will engage attendees in a healthy, active and/or creative lifestyle.

On Friday, March 25, Cypress and Grove Brewery will open their space and Heavy Petty, Gainesville’s own Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute band, will rock the stage for a free concert starting at 7:00 p.m. Good tunes, beer, and family fun will be happening at the neighborhood brewery.

On Saturday, March 26, Curia on the Drag and Auk Market will open their space for an Art & Craft Market. There will be 20 local artisan vendors, live acoustic music with a performance from UFPA’s Driveway Theatre Project, free art activities and workshops, food trucks, and more.

Throughout the week community members can participate in workshops and activities like painting a mural in collaboration with 352Walls. Learning how to write a play from renowned off-Broadway and regional playwright Michael Presley Bobbitt, in an online workshop. Creating a mixed media mural lead by Grow Hub and hosted by UF Health Shands Arts In Medicine and getting inside a songwriter’s head to learn the basics with an online workshop led by local singer/songwriter, Jason Hedges.
