Gainesville woman arrested for stabbing a family member

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Tammara Aaliyh Mosely, 29, was arrested early this morning for allegedly stabbing a family member.

At about 12:20 a.m. on June 14, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to a residence in Candlelight Estates Mobile Home Park (1600 NE 12th Avenue) and found Mosely covered in blood; he then saw the victim, who was also covered in blood. The officer reported that Mosely told him she needed to leave and placed her hands behind her back; the officer said that at that point, he realized the blood on her was not her blood.

The victim said he had been stabbed, and Mosely reportedly said she had hurt the victim and “needed to just go.” The officer placed Mosely in handcuffs.

The officer reported that the victim’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The victim said he had been singing as he walked by Mosely’s room, and Mosely thought he was “talking bad about her,” so they started arguing. He said Mosely swung a glass bottle at him, and then another family member separated them.

The victim said Mosely came to his bedroom, holding a knife, and swung the knife at him multiple times, cutting him on his shoulder, upper back, and head. The victim said Mosely has mental issues and “always causes problems.”

Post Miranda, Mosely reportedly said she had been upset at another family member when the victim started antagonizing her, and they got into an argument. She said the victim attacked her and choked her, but then she reportedly contradicted herself by saying he hadn’t been able to choke her. She said she picked up a glass liquor bottle and swung it at the victim in self-defense before the other family member separated them. She reportedly said she “had to finish what she started” because of an undiagnosed mental problem, so she picked up a large kitchen knife, went to the victim’s room, and stabbed him multiple times.

Mosely has been charged with domestic aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and domestic aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She has no local criminal history. Judge David Kreider ordered her held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold her without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.
