Gainesville woman arrested for attempting to hit neighbor with her vehicle during parking space dispute

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Candice Renee Collier, 40, was arrested yesterday for allegedly driving her vehicle toward a neighbor during a dispute over a parking space.

At about 11:10 a.m. on June 30, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to Holly Heights, where the victim said she had asked Collier to move one of her vehicles so she could park; the victim said Collier has several vehicles parked there, and at least one of them is inoperable.

The victim said she and Collier got into an argument over the parking space, and Collier got into a gray SUV, reversed out of the grassy area where it was parked, and drove forward and to the right, directly toward the victim. The victim said she had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit by the vehicle.

The deputy reported that doorbell camera video captured the incident.

Post Miranda, Collier reportedly said she drove toward the victim in self-defense because the victim said she would beat her up.

Collier has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She has no criminal convictions, but previous charges of aggravated stalking (2021), hit and run (2021) and battery (2024) were dropped. Collier posted bail of $5,000 before attending a First Appearance hearing.
