Barber arrested for threatening to kill GPD officer

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Michael Neil Wallace, 48, was arrested yesterday for allegedly making a Facebook post with a threat to kill a Gainesville Police Department officer who had interacted with Wallace during an investigation.

On August 13, 2025, Wallace allegedly made a Facebook post asking the victim what he was looking for when he “illegally searched” Wallace’s business, a barber shop named “Posh Haircuts for Men.” The post accused the officer of stalking Wallace’s wife, and it called the officer a long list of derogatory names. The post concludes, “I just publicly told him if he ever comes near me or my wife again, I’m going to kill him. Period. Try me.”

The post was reportedly made by an account under the name “Michael Wallace,” and the profile picture shows Wallace posing in front of a “POSH” sign.

The victim said he’d had previous encounters with Wallace in May 2025, and Wallace was placed under a Baker Act at that time. Immediately after that incident, Wallace allegedly made a post that named the victim and his family and described a specific tattoo on the victim’s arm; however, no threats were made in that post.

The August post caused the victim to fear for his and his family’s safety.

Wallace has been charged with making a written threat to kill. He has five felony convictions (non-violent) and 19 misdemeanor convictions; he has served one state prison sentence and was released in 2006. He is also facing charges in Marion County for stalking and making a written threat to kill. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $500,000.

  • This guy is going to plead “Not Guilty” because his mental software is stuck on version 1.0.0 and hasn’t been updated since 2006 since his prison release because the update server refuses the connection.

  • Not the brightest bulb in the drawer. I wonder what his shop’s Google and Yelp reviews say?

  • He ought to have Fun as a Prison Barber, one of duties which is serving Officers and cutting their hair. Don’t think this ended like Barber hoped it would, but Alcohol does that to even Good People

  • This guy was my barber for a couple of years; He did quality work. I went about a year ago, he was sitting in the dark highlighting a bible. He told me stories of a pedophile ring in Ocala and how GPD was involved while I was getting my hair cut. He was working to bust them all. Seemed like he had a mental break or got on drugs or something. I found a new barber after leaving that day.
