Marshall Rawson: My opponent will not debate me, and here’s why

HAMPTON, Fla. – My name is Marshall Rawson. I am a husband, a father of five children under the age of seven, a citrus farmer and small business owner, and an officer in the Florida State Guard. I am the grassroots candidate running in the GOP primary for House District 10 on August 18th.

I have been a conservative fighter, a longtime opponent of overdevelopment, and a committed protector of our agricultural lands, our 2^nd Amendment rights, and the rights of the unborn. 

I will fight for our aquifer and our right to clean drinking water against Billion-Dollar Boondoggle projects like Water First North Florida.

I have asked my opponent Chase Brannan to debate these issues with me anywhere in Alachua County. The Alachua GOP has asked the same. I have asked him to stand at a podium beside me and hear the voters I have been meeting door-to-door for the last 18 months.

My opponent has refused all requests for a public debate and will not appear with me in Alachua. I do not understand why he does not respect the voters of Alachua County that are inside House District 10. You are just as important as the voters in his home, Baker County. 

He will only participate in a select few “candidate forums” where he can give pre-scripted answers to pre-selected questions. The first one will be this Thursday in Lake City at 6:30 p.m. at the North Florida Arts & Sciences Academy. The next one will be this Saturday in Starke from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Charley Johns Conference Center.

I hope everyone reading attends. Voters deserve genuine, authentic candidates – not AI scripts written by consultants.

My opponent is the son of the outgoing, 8-year incumbent. His father was a member of Speaker Daniel Perez’s leadership team that spent the last two years trying to derail the agenda of America’s Governor Ron DeSantis – one of Florida’s greatest governors, whom I have the honor of serving as an officer in his Florida State Guard. 

My opponent is a single 32-year-old landlord. He has spent his adult life as a career staffer in the Tallahassee establishment. Does that sound like somebody who will protect our children? Does that sound like someone who will stand up against predatory development interests and fight against sprawl, overdevelopment, and AI data centers? 

Of course not – his campaign is literally funded by those special interests. He will never be able to say no to them.

My opponent is not interested in the concerns of North Florida. He is content to hide behind paid smear artists, pre-scripted answers, and mailers filled with empty promises. He thinks he can buy your vote and ride on the coattails of his last name.

This GOP primary election on August 18th represents our first opportunity in nearly a decade to have a real grassroots conservative fighter elected by the people of House District 10, someone who represents the people’s unheard voice.

This race comes down to one simple truth. It is authentic Grassroots Conservatives against a Tallahassee Political Machine. District 10 needs fearless leadership – not insider political dynasties. 

Chase Brannan is afraid to debate because he does not want people to know who he will really serve with power. You will always know that first I serve God, and then I serve you, Mr. and Mrs. North Florida. 

Anywhere in House District 10 where the people want to ask questions, I will be there to answer. I just ask you to understand if I bring my wife and kids. We are running this campaign together as a family.
