Woman on probation arrested for throwing butcher knife, breaking rear window of victim’s vehicle

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Anaria Da’jeonia Goss, 23, was arrested early yesterday morning for allegedly throwing a large butcher knife at the rear window of a vehicle, shattering the window.

At about 5:08 a.m. on July 28, a Gainesville Police Department officer responded to Candlelight Estates Mobile Home Park, where the victim said Goss, his on-and-off girlfriend, had seen him driving around and had started an argument with him. He said she picked up a large butcher knife and threw it at the rear window of his vehicle, shattering the window; she then allegedly kicked one of the vehicle’s doors.

The officer noted that the knife would have likely caused great bodily harm to the victim if it had hit him.

Officers made contact with Goss at her home, and she reportedly said she and the victim had been in a relationship but were no longer together. Post Miranda, she reportedly said she didn’t remember anything about damaging the victim’s vehicle.

A witness reportedly corroborated the victim’s story and said Goss chased the victim’s car down the road from her home, holding a knife in her hand. He said he tried to get her to calm down, but when the victim pulled into a parking lot to see what was going on, Goss ran toward him, and as he tried to drive away, she chased his vehicle down the road and threw the knife at the victim’s vehicle, shattering the rear window.

Goss has been charged with throwing a deadly missile at a vehicle. She has a juvenile history between 2017 and 2019 and six adult misdemeanor convictions (non-violent); she is currently on probation for stalking. Judge Meshon Rawls set bail at $15,000 and ordered a mental health evaluation.
