Dr. Xavier Monroe earns Florida Chamber of Commerce endorsement for HD21

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Dr. Xavier J. Monroe has earned the endorsement of the Florida Chamber of Commerce in the Democratic Primary for Florida House District 21. Monroe was one of only 25 candidates across Florida selected in the Chamber’s second round of legislative endorsements.

“Effective leaders don’t just talk about economic opportunity; they build the partnerships necessary to create it,” asserted Mark Wilson, President and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “We believe Dr. Xavier Monroe will be an effective voice for the businesses, workers, and communities of North Central Florida in Tallahassee.”

They create jobs, strengthen our communities, and provide opportunities for working families,” noted Monroe. “As State Representative, I will work to expand economic opportunity by helping local businesses grow, supporting entrepreneurs and start-ups, and ensuring our community has a strong voice when decisions are made in Tallahassee.”

Monroe earned his endorsement through the Chamber’s competitive candidate interview process involving more than 90 business organizations from across Florida. The endorsement is a vote of confidence in Monroe’s ability to build partnerships and deliver results for working families in North Central Florida.

In his current role as a Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the National Science Foundation, Monroe works with government, entrepreneurs, researchers, and emerging technology leaders to help prepare America’s workforce for the jobs of tomorrow. His experience as a teacher and workforce policy expert has focused on creating opportunities for workers and businesses to succeed in a rapidly changing economy.

Dr. Monroe has also earned the endorsements of local elected officials, education leaders, and community advocates from across North Central Florida, including Alachua County School Board members Leanetta McNealy, Ph.D., Sarah Rockwell, Ph.D., and Thomas Vu; City of Gainesville Commissioner Desmon Duncan-Walker; Alachua County Commissioner Charles “Chuck” Chestnut IV; former Alachua County Schools Superintendent Carlee Simon, Ph.D.; Micanopy Mayor Jiana “JiJi” Williams; and Moms Demand Action, which has designated Monroe a Gun Sense Candidate.

Florida House District 21 encompasses portions of Alachua and Marion Counties, including East Gainesville, Hawthorne, Micanopy, parts of Ocala, Orange Lake, Reddick, and surrounding communities throughout North Central Florida.
