Crews rescue partially submerged calf

NEWBERRY, Fla. – This morning, a ranch owner notified Newberry Fire Rescue (NFR) about a calf in a hole. NFR requested Alachua County Fire Rescue’s technical rescue team to assist with extricating the newborn calf. The ranch owner stated that the calf was born on Wednesday evening and had been in the cave since Friday. The calf was partially submerged in water in the cave. Crews worked quickly to access the calf and set up a rope haul system to extricate the calf and rescuer. The calf was cold and weak but quickly rebounded when reunited with his mother.
