Press release from Alachua County Fire Rescue
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – At about 2:07 a.m., Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) responded to reports of a residential building fire. Units arrived on scene to find a small fire in the wall of the building with extension to the A/C system and possible attic space.
Crews worked quickly to deploy hand lines from the fire truck and extinguish the fire with minimal damage. Water and power had to be secured to the residence, displacing the family, but everyone is safe and unharmed.
The fire is under investigation. ACFR would like to remind everyone to remember to clean out dryer vents. If too much lint builds up, they can pose a fire hazard.
