ACFR responds to Summer Creek residential fire, rescues dog

Press release from Alachua County Fire Rescue

At 5:13 p.m. today, units from Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR), along with Gainesville Fire Rescue, responded to a residential structure fire in the Summer Creek subdivision. Crews arrived on scene to find fire coming through the roof. Due to a quick response and great tactics, the fire was quickly under control, limiting damage to the rest of the structure. During a search of the home, the homeowner’s dog was found and rescued and appeared to be in good health. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.

ACFR wants to remind everyone the importance of smoke detectors. Also, remember when you set your clocks back this weekend to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.
