ACPS: Families of incoming kindergarteners invited to informational workshop

Press release from Alachua County Public Schools
Families of students who will be entering kindergarten in an Alachua County Public School in the fall of 2021 will be provided with important information and have a chance to ask questions at a virtual workshop later this month.
The Transitioning to Kindergarten Family Workshop will be held over Zoom on Thursday, April 22. There will be two sessions. The first will run from 9-10 a.m., the second from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The workshop is free, but families must register to participate. They may attend either session, as the same information will be covered in both.
The workshop will include information on how to determine the school they’re zoned for, filling out registration paperwork, special services, educational summer activities, and other topics. There will be a live question-and-answer session.
The workshop will also help families prepare for the district’s annual Kindergarten Round-Up. The Round-Up will be held virtually by each elementary school (those serving kindergarten students) on April 28. A schedule for each school and other kindergarten-related information is available on the district’s website at www.sbac.edu/kindergarten2021.
Immediately after the Round-Up, the families of kindergarten and all other students who will be new to the district in the fall will be able to register their child online. The 2021-22 school year begins for students on Tuesday, August 10. More information on enrollment for all students, including the registration form, is available at www.sbac.edu/enrollment.
