Press release from Alachua County Public Schools

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – All Alachua County families of school-aged children are invited to learn more about the many educational opportunities available to them at the district’s upcoming Magnet Showcase.

The Showcase will include all of the district’s academic and career tech magnet programs in elementary through high school. Representatives from those programs, including students, will share information about the benefits and provide application and deadline information.

“This district offers students of all ages so many pathways to achieving their educational and career goals,” said Shannon Ritter, director of the district’s career tech programs. “Families attending the Showcase are always amazed at the wide variety of options available through Alachua County Public Schools.”

The Showcase will be held Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Alachua County Sports and Event Center at 4870 Celebration Pointe Avenue in Gainesville.

Open houses start Oct. 14

Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, October 14, and ending November 13, each magnet program will be hosting an open house to give families the opportunity to explore their options in person. Many also offer shadowing opportunities.

More information about each magnet program, open house schedules, the application timeline, and more are available at alachuaschools.net/magnets

The window to apply for a magnet program for the 2026-27 school year will run from December 2 through January 12.

Magnet programs are open to any student (including those not currently enrolled in the district), regardless of where they live and what school they are zoned to attend. Students who are accepted and live more than two miles from the magnet program site will have access to transportation.
