ACPS schools closed Wednesday and Thursday

Press release from Alachua County Public Schools
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Due to the projected impact of Hurricane Milton, ACPS schools and district offices will be CLOSED on Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10, including all extracurricular activities.
Schools will remain open on Tuesday, October 8. This includes the Extended Day Enrichment Program and extracurricular activities.
The district does plan to reopen on Friday, October 11. However, this may change depending on the condition of our schools and other factors.
Conditions permitting, we will send out notifications to families following the storm. We will also post updates on our website (https://www.sbac.edu/milton) and social media pages.
We’ve had questions about make-up days for the instructional time lost to hurricanes. The district’s plan is to use the three Flex Days on the calendar (December 20, January 6, and February 14). More information about this will be provided later.
We encourage families to visit Alachua County’s emergency page at AlachuaCountyReady.com for weather updates, preparation tips and more, or text ALACHUA to 888-777 for real time updates.
Families with special needs children or other family members who may need shelter or transportation are encouraged to register with Alachua County’s special needs registry at https://tinyurl.com/SpecialNeedsAC
We hope you and your family remain safe during the storm.
