Acrosstown Repertory Theater to hold auditions for summer Pre-Professional Workshop

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Acrosstown Repertory Theater will hold open auditions on May 19 for its Pre-Professional Workshop (June 24 – August 1).

The auditions will be held at 6 p.m. at the theater, 3501 SW 2nd Avenue, Suite O (in Creekside Mall).

The workshop will feature Rikki Baynard as Head Instructor and Circle in the Square Alumna Andrea Young as Assistant Instructor; the 6-week program costs $225. (Multiple scholarships are available for financial hardship and can be requested at the audition)

The workshop will run from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Participants must be picked up by 7:00 p.m.

The ART’s Pre-Professional Workshop is an introduction to the exciting world of professional performance. This workshop will include the following:

• Acting and text analysis
• Performing Shakespeare
• Vocal practice

This six-week workshop will expand your skills as a performer, give you an edge in professional settings, and culminate in a final showcase performance on August 3rd and 4th.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
Please prepare two contrasting one-minute monologues. One should be classical and one contemporary, and both should be memorized.

Classes will take place at the Acrosstown Repertory Theater, 3501 SW 2nd Ave, Suite O, Gainesville, FL 32607, and are open to middle and high school students aged 12-18 (exceptions may be considered). Admittance is by audition only as space is limited. Parental permission is required.
