Alachua City Commissioner Dayna Williams endorses Marshall Rawson for State Representative

Press release from Marshall Rawson for Florida State House

ALACHUA, Fla. – Today, Marshall Rawson announced the endorsement of Alachua City Commissioner Dayna Williams, who has served in her position for seven years, including two stints as Vice Mayor.

“North Florida needs representation in Tallahassee that is an independent voice, not intimidated by party demands from either side,” said Commissioner Williams. “Marshall understands who he represents, why he represents them, with the insight to know that he is a civil servant, not a politician. He has demonstrated a strong commitment to our smaller, more rural communities, and has shown a consistent dedication to addressing our local issues and supporting the people he serves. I know we can continue to build on the progress we have made working with leaders like Marshall, and I am confident that he will always fight for our freedoms and principles. I am proud to endorse Marshall Rawson to be the next State Representative for District 10 in the Florida House.”

“Commissioner Williams is an outstanding addition to the team,” said Marshall Rawson. “I know I will work well with community leaders like Dayna, who have an optimistic vision for our future, passion for our community, and a strong understanding of what has made us great.”

Commissioner Williams has served Alachua on the Planning & Zoning Board and the Citizen Advisory Task Force. She also has served in a variety of community and business organizations, including the Alachua Business League, the Alachua Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International, and Kiwanis. She has served as President of the Lions Club International of Alachua and the Gainesville Elks Lodge.

Rawson is a native Floridian and owns and operates Free State Growers, an agricultural business. Previously, he served as a Washington aide and intern to Republican Congressman Paul Broun, as a legal assistant to Secretary of State Cord Byrd, and as a legal intern for the Florida Department of Agriculture. A dedicated citizen-leader, he has also been an advocate across Florida for various issues, including, but not limited to, immigration reform, state sovereignty, Florida conservation, and taxpayer advocacy. Marshall is the past Chairman of the Greater Melrose Republican Liberty Caucus and currently serves as the North Florida Regional Director of the Republican Liberty Caucus. He also serves as an officer in the Florida Guard and has been deployed to the Texas border to help stop illegal immigration. He is a UF Law Grad and is a member of Grace Life Church in Lake City.
