Press release from Alachua County Association of Pharmacists

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed October 2024 as American Pharmacists’ Month at their October 22 meeting. Alachua County has recognized Pharmacy Professionals for their service to our communities for several years.

William Garst, Pharm. D. a staff pharmacist at the Lake Butler Hospital, released the following statement on behalf of the Alachua County Association of Pharmacists:

“Alachua County recognized the Pharmacy Profession by proclaiming October 2024 as American Pharmacists Month. This proclamation acknowledges the service to our communities by pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The services provided are much more than access to medications, but a place to receive accurate medication information and communication. The pharmacists also are invaluable with information regarding medication safety and appropriate medication use. The Alachua County Association of Pharmacists (ACAP) is a Unit Association of the Florida Pharmacy Association, which is affiliated with the American Pharmacists Association. ACAP serves as one of the main local professional pharmacy associations in north central Florida. As an association, ACAP advocates for appropriate medication related legislation, serves as a local source for professional development, and is involved with mentoring pharmacy students at the University of Florida”
