Alachua County Mourns the Loss of an Employee

Press release from Alachua County

All of us at Alachua County are grieving the loss of one of our own, Jody Rae Lamont. She and her husband Shawn Charles Lamont, their two children Jayce and Alice, and Jody’s father Larry Ray Pruitt, were killed when their small plane crashed in Georgia.

Jody joined Alachua County Court Services as a Drug Counselor at the Metamorphosis program in November of 2012. She provided individual, group, and couples therapy, completed assessments, and developed treatment plans. Promoted to the Sr. Drug Counselor position in June of 2014, Jody focused on implementing treatment interventions and completing substance abuse screenings to determine eligibility for the Metamorphosis program and treatment courts. She was named the acting Clinical Supervisor in January of 2020. She was an excellent clinician with a bright future.

Speaking of this tragic loss, Alachua County Chair Robert Hutchinson said, “Jody devoted her life to helping those in need find their way back to leading healthy and productive lives. Her loss weighs heavily on all those who worked with her, knew her, and loved her.”
