Alachua County Poet Laureate welcomes contributions from cancer survivors for Survivorship Summit poem

Press release from Poet Laureate E. Stanley Richardson

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County Poet Laureate E. Stanley Richardson is inviting cancer survivors to create a poem with him, which he will read at the UF Health Cancer Center Survivorship Summit on Saturday, June 28.

Richardson said, “It can be difficult at times to write about something so serious as cancer. So, I’m asking for your sincere assistance and heartfelt creativity to help craft a Community Poem about Cancer Survivorship.”

Cancer survivors can contribute a verse, line, or stanza by email to estanleyrichardson@gmail.com.

Richardson offers the following as an example:

How you mend and turn
blue light,
dim sorrows into beautiful rainbows
of resilience

Richardson will arrange the contributions into a poem and present it in honor of all the contributors at the Summit.
