Alachua County seeks volunteers for tree-planting event

MELROSE, Fla. – Alachua County is seeking volunteers for its final tree-planting event of the season on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

The planting event will begin at 9 a.m. at the County’s 288-acre Black Lake Preserve (6197 NE 225th St., Melrose).

Volunteers will assist with the planting of native trees to help shade the new parking area and benefit the natural habitat at the preserve, which is not yet open to the public. The event offers participants an opportunity to contribute to local environmental conservation efforts while getting an early look at the County’s newest protected natural area.

Community members of all experience levels are encouraged to participate. Advanced registration is required.
