Altamonte Springs man killed on I-75

At about 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, a Ford Explorer traveling northbound on Interstate 75 near mile marker 390 (39th Ave) in the inside lane swerved right and traveled off the roadway into the east grass shoulder. The Explorer overturned and ejected both occupants. Both the vehicle and the occupants landed along NW 95th Blvd, which parallels I-75 to the east.

The driver, Peter William Kussman, 36, of Altamonte Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, David James Makey, 25, of Orlando, was transported to UF Health with serious injuries. According to the accident report, neither wore a seatbelt.

This incident is under investigation.
