American Aquarium brings gritty, heartfelt country-rock to Heartwood Soundstage on Dec. 1

Press release from Heartwood Soundstage

GAINESVILLE, Fla. –  Heartwood Soundstage is proud to welcome American Aquarium to Gainesville on Monday, December 1, 2025. Doors open at 6:00 PM, and the show begins at 7:00 PM.

For nearly two decades, American Aquarium has carved out a singular place in American music, delivering raw, unfiltered country-rock built to make audiences sing, shout, and feel every word. Led by acclaimed frontman BJ Barham, the North Carolina-bred band is known for its powerful blend of electrifying rock energy and songwriting that digs deep into the realities of life, love, and the modern South.

Their latest album, The Fear of Standing Still, captures the band at its most urgent and fearless yet, pairing hard-driving performances with Barham’s most incisive writing to date. Reflecting on personal transformations, generational trauma, Southern identity, and the world at large, the album blends unbridled spirit with illuminating empathy — a record that proves why the band continues to resonate so deeply with fans across generations.

American Aquarium’s live performances have earned them a reputation as one of the most passionate touring acts in modern Americana. The band — BJ Barham (vocals, guitar), Shane Boeker (guitar), Neil Jones (pedal steel), Rhett Huffman (keys), Ryan Van Fleet (drums), and Alden Hedges (bass) — brings the intensity of a freight train, the honesty of a songwriter’s circle, and the catharsis of a room singing together as one.
