APD investigates Sunday night shooting

ALACHUA, Fla. – The Alachua Police Department (APD) is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred late Sunday night and was discovered to have caused property damage the following morning. No injuries have been reported.

On April 5, 2026, at approximately 11:12 p.m., APD received two separate calls reporting the sound of approximately 10 gunshots in the area of the 7400 block of NW 128th Place (Oaks of Hague subdivision). Officers responded to the scene and conducted a thorough search of the area but were unable to locate any individuals, vehicles, or evidence of suspicious activity at that time.

On the morning of April 6, 2026, at approximately 10:20 a.m., the owner of Trinity Car Sales LLC, a business located at 12559 NW US Hwy 441, contacted APD to report that the front door of the business had been shattered. Responding officers discovered multiple bullet holes in the building as well as in several vehicles on the property.

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Forensics Unit responded to assist and processed the scene for evidence.

While officers were still on scene, APD received an additional call from a nearby residence located behind the business. The resident reported finding bullet holes in their home. Officers responded and located projectiles that had struck the residence, which were recovered as evidence.

This case remains an active and ongoing investigation.
