Press release from McDonald’s USA

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Applications are now open for the 2024 McDonald’s Golden Grants program. To apply, eligible entities can visit McDonald’s Golden Grants through October 13.

McDonald’s Owner/Operators across South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida will be selecting deserving educators, non-profit organizations, and the like, who represent programs that fuel the imagination, education, and growth of students, as recipients of a McDonald’s Golden Grant. Entering its fourth year, the program has awarded $300,000 in its first three years.

In 2023, eleven grants were awarded throughout south Georgia and North Florida. Amongst these recipients was Feeding Northeast Florida. The non-profit organization utilized their $10,000 grant for their Weekend Snack Packs Program.

“Nearly 3,500 elementary, middle, and high school students in Jacksonville and Duval County rely on the food bank to send a ‘Snack Pack’ home with them every weekend over 36 weeks of the school year,” said Feeding Northeast Florida. “Each provides the nutritional equivalent of 2 meals to help fill meal gaps that they may be experiencing at home. Producing over 124,000 Snack Packs to help local school children return to school on Mondays better fed, well-nourished, alert, and ready to learn, Feeding Northeast Florida wants to acknowledge and thank McDonalds for our 2023 Golden Grant award of $10,000, which helped build 2,500 Snack Packs that were distributed to elementary schools in some of our most food insecure zip codes.”

This year, grants will be awarded in the amounts of $10,000, $5,000, $2,500, and $1,000 based on creativity and hands-on application of projects. Alachua County organizations are eligible to apply for the grants.

Qualifying activities include arts programs, education initiatives, mentorship and empowerment programs, after-school programs, community service, sports activities, and technology.

Applications will close on October 13, and recipients of a Golden Grant will be announced in November.
