April 1 evening update: 92 cases in Alachua County
BY JENNIFER CABRERA
According to the state dashboard, Alachua County now has 92 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 87 at this time yesterday. No deaths have been reported. 14 people have been hospitalized (it is unclear whether that is the current number or a cumulative number; the Department of Health just said they don’t have information on recoveries because it is self-reported. I’ve also heard anecdotally that there are 17 people hospitalized at Shands).
The state has 7773 cases (an increase of 1032 from this time yesterday) and 101 deaths (up from 85 at this time yesterday). The new deaths are in Broward, Dade, Lee, Manatee, and Palm Beach counties.
50% of the state’s cases are in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, and another 8% are in Palm Beach County.
16 COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County. 1530 people have been tested so far in Alachua County, and 1420 tests have come back negative, so 92.8% of the tests so far have been negative (1% are pending). Only 6% of the local tests have come back positive so far.
