April 1 morning update: 90 cases in Alachua County
BY JENNIFER CABRERA
According to the stateĀ dashboard, Alachua County now has 90 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 85 at this time yesterday. No deaths have been reported. 13 people have been hospitalized (it is unclear whether that is the current number or a cumulative number; the Department of Health just said they donāt have information on recoveries because it is self-reported. I’ve also heard anecdotally that there are 17 people hospitalized at Shands).
The state has 6955 cases (an increase of 617 from this time yesterday) and 87 deaths (up from 77 at this time yesterday).
50% of the stateās cases are in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, and another 8% are in Palm Beach County.
16 COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County. 1524 people have been tested so far in Alachua County, and 1417 tests have come back negative, so 93% of the tests so far have been negative (1% are pending). Only 5.9% of the local tests have come back positive so far.
According to theĀ daily reportĀ (note that the data in that report and the dashboard donāt always match up because they are published at different times), there are 70 cases in Gainesville, 6 in Alachua, 4 in Newberry, 2 in Tioga, 2 in Micanopy, and 1 in High Springs. Location data is not available for all cases.
