April 10 evening update: 167 cases in Alachua County

The growth in cases in long-term facilities is concerning.
According to the stateĀ dashboard, Alachua County now has 167 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 154 at this time yesterday. No deaths have been reported. 23 people to date have been hospitalized (no information about recoveries or current hospitalization counts is available). 13 people in nursing homes or assisted living facilities have been diagnosed with COVID-19. The median age of those with positive tests is 42.
The state has 17968 cases (an increase of 1142 from this time yesterday) and 419 deaths (an increase of 48 from this time yesterday).
Dade County has 36% of the stateās cases. Broward has 15%; Palm Beach 8%; Orange 5%; and Hillsborough 4%. Alachua County represents about 1.2% of the stateās population and 0.93% of the stateās cases.
3493 people have been tested so far in Alachua County (up 271 from this time yesterday), and 3317 tests have come back negative, so 95% of the tests so far have been negative. Only 4.8% of the local tests have come back positive so far. Of the 271 tests that came back today, 4.8% came back positive. (The numbers in the various categories donāt add up to the total number of tests listed on the dashboard, but since we donāt know which number is incorrect, weāre reporting them as theyāre given on the dashboard.) 6 COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County, and 10 are inconclusive.
According to theĀ daily reportĀ (note that the data in that report and the dashboard donāt always match up because they are published at different times), there are 127 cases in Gainesville, 9 in Alachua, 6 in Newberry, 5 in Hawthorne, 4 in High Springs, 3 in Micanopy, 2 in Tioga, 1 in LaCrosse, and 1 in Archer.
