April 10 morning update: 167 cases in Alachua County

According to the state dashboard, Alachua County now has 167 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 150 at this time yesterday. No deaths have been reported. 22 people to date have been hospitalized (no information about current hospitalization counts is available). 8 people in nursing homes or assisted living facilities have been diagnosed with COVID-19. The median age of those with positive tests is 42.
The state has 17531 cases (an increase of 1167 from this time yesterday) and 390 deaths (an increase of 36 from this time yesterday).
Dade County has 36% of the state’s cases. Broward has 15%; Palm Beach 8%; Orange 5%; and Hillsborough 4%. Alachua County represents about 1.2% of the state’s population and 0.95% of the state’s cases.
3436 people have been tested so far in Alachua County (up 252 from this time yesterday), and 3260 tests have come back negative, so 94.9% of the tests so far have been negative. Only 4.9% of the local tests have come back positive so far. Of the 252 tests that came back today, 5.2% came back positive. (The numbers in the various categories don’t add up to the total number of tests listed on the dashboard, but since we don’t know which number is incorrect, we’re reporting them as they’re given on the dashboard.) 6 COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County, and 10 are inconclusive.
According to the daily report (note that the data in that report and the dashboard don’t always match up because they are published at different times), there are 127 cases in Gainesville, 9 in Alachua, 6 in Newberry, 5 in Hawthorne, 4 in High Springs, 3 in Micanopy, 2 in Tioga, 1 in LaCrosse, and 1 in Archer. Location data is not available for all cases.
