As we suspected, the big jump in new positive tests that was reported yesterday was an error. According to the state dashboard, Alachua County now has 183 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 177 at this time yesterday. No deaths have been reported. 24 people to date have been hospitalized (no information about recoveries or current hospitalization counts is available).

The state has 20601 cases (an increase of 1254 from this time yesterday) and 470 deaths (an increase of 18 from this time yesterday).
Dade County has 36% of the state’s cases. Broward has 15%; Palm Beach 8%; Orange 5%; and Hillsborough 4%. Alachua County represents about 1.2% of the state’s population and 0.89% of the state’s cases.

4001 people have been tested so far in Alachua County (up 206 from this time yesterday), and 3809 tests have come back negative, so 95% of the tests so far have been negative. Only 4.6% of the local tests have come back positive so far. Of the test results that came back since yesterday morning, 2.9% were positive. (The numbers in the various categories don’t add up to the total number of tests listed on the dashboard, but since we don’t know which number is incorrect, we’re reporting them as they’re given on the dashboard.) 4 COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County, and 9 are inconclusive.
