April 13 morning update: 183 cases in Alachua County

As we suspected, the big jump in new positive tests that was reported yesterday was an error. According to the stateĀ dashboard, Alachua County now has 183 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 177 at this time yesterday. No deaths have been reported. 24 people to date have been hospitalized (no information about recoveries or current hospitalization counts is available).
15 residents or staff in long-term care facilities have been diagnosed with COVID-19 – no change from yesterday. The median age of those with positive tests is 44.
Available bed capacityĀ in Alachua County is 39.65%
The state has 20601 cases (an increase of 1254 from this time yesterday) and 470 deaths (an increase of 18 from this time yesterday).
Dade County has 36% of the stateās cases. Broward has 15%; Palm Beach 8%; Orange 5%; and Hillsborough 4%. Alachua County represents about 1.2% of the stateās population and 0.89% of the stateās cases.
4001 people have been tested so far in Alachua County (up 206 from this time yesterday), and 3809 tests have come back negative, so 95% of the tests so far have been negative. Only 4.6% of the local tests have come back positive so far. Of the test results that came back since yesterday morning, 2.9% were positive. (The numbers in the various categories donāt add up to the total number of tests listed on the dashboard, but since we donāt know which number is incorrect, weāre reporting them as theyāre given on the dashboard.) 4 COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County, and 9 are inconclusive.
According to theĀ daily reportĀ (note that the data in that report and the dashboard donāt always match up because they are published at different times), there are 139 cases in Gainesville, 11 in Alachua, 8 in Newberry, 5 in Hawthorne, 4 in High Springs, 3 in Micanopy, 2 in Tioga, 1 in LaCrosse, and 1 in Archer.
