April 16 morning update: 199 cases in Alachua County

According to the state dashboard, Alachua County now has 199 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 196 at this time yesterday. No deaths have been reported. 27 people to date have been hospitalized (no information about recoveries or current hospitalization counts is available). The median age of those with positive tests is 44.

21 residents or staff in long-term care facilities have been diagnosed with COVID-19, up from 18 yesterday.

Available bed capacity in Alachua County is 34.16%.

The state has 22897 cases (an increase of 816 from this time yesterday) and 633 deaths (an increase of 42 from this time yesterday).

Dade County has 36% of the state’s cases. Broward has 15%; Palm Beach 8%; Orange 5%; and Hillsborough 4%. Alachua County represents about 1.2% of the state’s population and 0.87% of the state’s cases.

4564 people have been tested so far in Alachua County (up 349 from this time yesterday), and 4355 tests have come back negative, so 95% of the tests so far have been negative. Only 4.4% of the local tests have come back positive so far. (The numbers in the various categories don’t add up to the total number of tests listed on the dashboard, but since we don’t know which number is incorrect, we’re reporting them as they’re given on the dashboard.) 4 COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County, and 10 are inconclusive.

According to the daily report (note that the data in that report and the dashboard don’t always match up because they are published at different times), there are 149 cases in Gainesville, 14 in Alachua, 8 in Newberry, 7 in Hawthorne, 4 in High Springs, 3 in Micanopy, 2 in Tioga, 1 in Waldo, 1 in LaCrosse, and 1 in Archer. Location data is not available for all cases.
