According to the state dashboard, Alachua County now has 201 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 200 at this time yesterday (and down from the 202 reported this morning). No deaths have been reported. 27 people to date have been hospitalized (no information about recoveries or current hospitalization counts is available). The median age of those with positive tests is 44.
21 residents or staff in long-term care facilities have been diagnosed with COVID-19, the same number as yesterday.
The state has 24753 cases (an increase of 1413 from this time yesterday, but the number of tests jumped; the percentage of positive tests statewide actually dropped to its lowest level in a week) and 726 deaths (an increase of 58 from this time yesterday).
Dade County has 36% of the state’s cases. Broward has 15%; Palm Beach 8%; Orange 5%; and Hillsborough 4%. Alachua County represents about 1.2% of the state’s population and 0.81% of the state’s cases.
4787 people have been tested so far in Alachua County (up 185 from this time yesterday), and 4577 tests have come back negative, so 95.6% of the tests so far have been negative. Only 4.2% of the local tests have come back positive so far. (The numbers in the various categories don’t add up to the total number of tests listed on the dashboard, but since we don’t know which number is incorrect, we’re reporting them as they’re given on the dashboard.) 3 COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County, and 9 are inconclusive.
According to the daily report (note that the data in that report and the dashboard don’t always match up because they are published at different times), there are 149 cases in Gainesville, 13 in Alachua, 8 in Newberry, 7 in Hawthorne, 5 in High Springs, 3 in Micanopy, 2 in Tioga, 1 in Waldo, 1 in LaCrosse, and 1 in Archer. Location data is not available for all cases.
