April 30 update: 3 new deaths, 5 new cases in Alachua County

According to the stateĀ dashboard, Alachua County now has 267 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 262 yesterday. 3 new deaths have been reported, for a total of 5 so far. All of the new deaths were from long-term care facilities. The 5 deaths were first reported as positive cases on April 9 (2), April 18, April 20, and April 21.

The state is no longer providing cumulative totals of positive tests in long-term care facilities.

The state has 33,690 cases (an increase of 497 from yesterday) and 1,268 deaths (an increase of 50 from yesterday).

The state is also now publishing a chart of the percentage of new tests that are positive by day:

Dade County has 36% of the stateā€™s cases. Broward has 15%; Palm Beach 9%; and Orange 4%. Alachua County represents about 1.2% of the stateā€™s population and 0.79% of the stateā€™s cases.

6,901 people have been tested so far in Alachua County (up 161 from yesterday), and 6,627 tests have come back negative, so 96% of the tests so far have been negative. Only 3.9% of the local tests have come back positive so far, and 3.1% of yesterdayā€™s tests came back positive.

According to theĀ daily report, there are 208 cases in Gainesville, 12 in Alachua, 11 in Newberry, 7 in Hawthorne, 5 in High Springs, 4 in Waldo, 3 in Micanopy, 3 in Tioga, 1 in LaCrosse, 1 in Santa Fe, and 1 in Archer. Location data is not available for all cases.
