BY JENNIFER CABRERA

According to the state dashboard, Alachua County now has 144 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 139 yesterday evening. No deaths have been reported. 19 people to date have been hospitalized (no information about current hospitalization counts is available). 3 people in nursing homes or assisted living facilities have been diagnosed with COVID-19. The median age of those with positive tests is 41.

The state has 15698 cases (an increase of 951 from this time yesterday) and 323 deaths (an increase of 27 from this time yesterday).

Dade County has 36% of the state’s cases. Broward has 15%; Palm Beach 8%; Orange 5%; and Hillsborough 4%. Alachua County represents about 1.2% of the state’s population and less than 1% of the state’s cases.

8 COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County, and 9 are inconclusive. 2827 people have been tested so far in Alachua County, and 2667 tests have come back negative, so 94.3% of the tests so far have been negative. Only 5.1% of the local tests have come back positive so far. Of the 146 tests that came back since the last report, 3.4% came back positive. (The numbers in the various categories add up to one more than the total number of tests, but since we don’t know which number is incorrect, we’re reporting them as they’re given on the dashboard.)

According to the daily report (note that the data in that report and the dashboard don’t always match up because they are published at different times), there are 110 cases in Gainesville, 8 in Alachua, 5 in Hawthorne, 5 in Newberry, 3 in High Springs, 2 in Tioga, 2 in Micanopy, and 1 in LaCrosse. Location data is not available for all cases.
