Archer Historical Society’s first annual Train Day to be held on May 9

ARCHER, Fla. – Archer Historical Society is gearing up for our First Annual Train Day on Saturday, May 9. You can hop on board between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The Archer Depot, in Archer, Florida, serves as a historic and cultural centerpiece for the community. The event is to showcase this local treasure and encourage support in maintaining it for future generations to enjoy.
Attendees will have a chance to visit the historic Depot Museum and check out the newest Mainline model train exhibit depicting the Florida Railway when it ran between Amelia Island and Cedar Key in the mid 1800s. Vendors, live music, and a train ride for kids and kids at heart will be worth the trip for train hoppers and train spotters alike.
Archer Train Day will be followed by a presentation at 2 p.m. at the Archer Branch Library by Johnny Nelson, historian and member of the Archer Historical Society, with a family-friendly look at the railroad in Archer’s past.
