Arrest made in drive-by shooting

On April 7 at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office responded to 809 SW 63rd Terrace in Linton Oaks regarding a drive-by shooting. The targeted apartment was occupied by one adult and seven children. The investigation found that the apartment was struck multiple times, but no occupants were injured. A vehicle and person of interest were identified, but the vehicle and driver were not located.

On April 9 at approximately 7:15 a.m., patrol units located the vehicle at 7200 SW 8th Avenue (Woodside Villas). Because of the nature of the crime and with an abundance of caution, the SWAT team responded and evacuated the surrounding apartments. After about an hour, the person of interest, Kyre Tremay White, 19, surrendered and was detained without incident. White was questioned by detectives and subsequently charged with resisting without violence. The investigation is ongoing.
