Press release from Alachua County Sheriff’s Office
Detectives from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office just arrested Eastside High School student Carlisha L. Williams, 17, of Gainesville and charged her with making a false report concerning the use of firearms in a violent manner on state property and making electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism. Her arrest is related to a threat at the school this morning over a social media account.
Continued threats of bombs and shootings greatly disrupt the education of our students and will not be tolerated. We will not allow these criminal acts to hold our community hostage.
I continue to be immensely grateful to my team of dedicated employees whose continued efforts have contributed to the success of the mission of bringing these types of crimes to a successful resolution.
As a reminder, students and parents should understand that choices to engage in criminal activity as exemplified in these recent cases will affect and have the potential to ruin your life. We will devote the time and resources necessary to solve and prosecute these serious cases.
