Assurance and WellFlorida Council to host event for cancer survivors and caregivers on June 19

Press release from Assurance

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Assurance is proud to partner with WellFlorida Council and the North Central Florida Cancer Control Collaborative to help promote and support Shared Journeys, a free community event designed for cancer survivors and caregivers, taking place on June 19, 2026.

The event will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gainesville and will bring together caregivers, survivors, healthcare professionals, and community organizations for a day focused on connection, education, and shared experiences.

Shared Journeys will feature educational breakout sessions specifically designed for both survivors and caregivers, along with a guided journey mapping activity that will allow participants to reflect on and share their experiences navigating cancer—from diagnosis through treatment, survivorship, and caregiving.

The event aims to gather valuable insight into the real-life experiences of survivors and caregivers so healthcare providers, organizations, and support services can better understand the challenges people face throughout the cancer journey.

“Too often, caregivers and survivors are expected to navigate these experiences alone,” said Virginia Grant, Founder of Assurance. “This event creates space for honest conversation, shared understanding, and community connection while also helping organizations learn how to better support people throughout the cancer journey.”

The event is completely free to attend, and both breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Assurance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting caregivers through education, emotional support, and community resources, joined the partnership effort to help expand outreach and ensure caregivers feel seen, supported, and included in conversations surrounding cancer care and survivorship.
